3-Day Juice Fast

I’m starting this year off with a 3-Day Juice Fast.  There’s no better time than the first week of the new year to start getting healthy.  I love the juice fast because it does a great job of putting a ton of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes into your system very quickly while at the same time removing all the bad carbs (sugar, wheat, flour, pasta, cakes, cookies, and other junk food.)

The results are usually nothing short of amazing.  I’ll bet I’ll lose 10 pounds over the next three days.  Some nay-sayers will claim that I’m only losing water weight.  They couldn’t be more wrong.  Many fruits and vegetables are as much as 95% water!  So, you’re getting all your water, but its full of nutrients.

Here’s what I typically juice:

2-3 apples

2-3 celery stalks

1-2 beet

2-3 carrots

1 cucumber

a handful of kale

a handful of spinach

a handful of parsely

a thumb-size piece of ginger (gives it some zing!)

(some people add a little lemon or some other veggies.  That’s ok, too)

That should make enough to last you through the day.  Make sure you drink everything the same day.  If you let it sit overnight, it will lose a lot of its potency.

Some people like to mix it with water, but I don’t.  I like it straight.  If you’d like to join me in juicing this week, feel free to contact me and let me know how you’re feeling.  The first day of a juice fast may be a little difficult.  If you’re not getting your normal dose of sugar and caffeine, you may feel a little nauseous, light-headed, or you may get a headache.  But its just like driving through a tunnel.  There is light at the end of the tunnel.  By the 3rd day, you should be feeling more energized.  You shouldn’t be craving junk food.  You should have a sharper mind.  At least that’s how most people feel after a 3-day juice fast.

So give it a try and let me know how it goes.  Throughout the year, I’ll be trying different things, and I invite you to join me, so we can get healthy together!
